Bonjour! My name is Candice (Candi) Cartwright. I am honored to be a nominee for the position of
Secretary for the Fort Polk Spouses’ Club.
First, I’d like to tell you why I’ve decided to pursue this position. I first became a proud Army wife in
2009 and was introduced to the Spouses’ Club at the same time. Over the next 12 years I’ve realized
that like many other spouses’ I needed that instant connection with the many moves that come with the
military life. I also discovered a hidden love for volunteering and raising funds for the philanthropy side
of the club.
My evolution with spouses’ clubs has grown. I started out at Fort Bragg as a new committee member to
having served as President at two clubs. I have learned how to operate within a board setting and
benefitted from now lifelong friendships. I have a strong sense of pride with the spouses’ club at every
duty station and the many things each team has accomplished.
Professionally, I have practiced law enforcement for 17 years in multiple practice settings, usually in
Criminal Forensics. From managing lead investigative teams to profiling offenders in the system. My
focus has always been on forging effective and efficient teams.
Currently I am retired and a 2-year breast cancer survivor. I am from Gretna, Louisiana and my spouse,
Brian, is from Springtown, Texas making us the perfect couple. We love to hunt, fish and enjoy the
beautiful outdoors. We are the proud parents of 3 young men and that our oldest son is stationed here,
and we get to spend every day with our wonderful granddaughters.
Goals as FPSC Secretary:
Work as team member to increase club membership and confidence and the transparency of the FPSC.
Post minutes and current budget at luncheons.
Personally, reach out to every new member in the FPSC (phone, email and Facebook) to engage them in our myriad venues.
Thanks for reading and for this opportunity.
Telisha V. Thomas (Running for 2ndVP)
I am a native Houstonian, and have been a military spouse for 20 years. My husband and I are college sweethearts, both graduating from Hampton University, in Hampton, VA. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and worked after college as a Corporate Recruiter for a major corporation. We have two sons, Christian, a high school freshman, and Jarrett, a college freshman; we also have a cocker spaniel named Spuzzy.
Throughout our twenty years as a military family, I have volunteered extensively, to include both military and community interest groups. I have sat on numerous Spouses’ Club Boards, served as FRG Leader serveral times, as well as FRG Advisor. I have sat on numerous PTA and/or PTO boards, chaired various school activites, and presided over local mom organizations. I currently volunteer with the Fort Polk Garrison, the Vernon Parish School District, the Fort Polk School Liaison Office, and the Fort Polk Child and Youth Services Program.
I served as Volunteer Coordinator for the Fort Hood Officers’ Wives Club, Class Rep for the FT Leavenworth Spouses’ Club, and Volunteer Coordinator and 2nd Vice President, respectively, for the Fort Bragg Spouses’ Club.
Lori is a southern girl but has a passion for traveling and exploring. She is a mother of two smart

been involved in many aspects of spouses’ clubs, mil-spouse activities and volunteering. In her
free time, you’ll find her exercising, cooking or hanging with family & friends. You can always
find her joking around or with a smile on her face. Lori is known for being thorough and

Hello! My name is Brynn Rivera and I am running for President of the Fort Polk Spouse’s Club for the 2018-2019 year. I’m currently the 1st Vice President and am over all sub clubs and rentals. I also sit on a few of our committees. Besides volunteering here, I’m the hospitality coordinator for the Fort Polk Mother’s of Preschoolers Group and I volunteer at my children’s school on a regular basis. I have been an Air Force spouse for 14 years and have volunteered for many military groups during that time. I am from San Antonio, TX and have a Bachelor’s of Arts in Criminal Justice. I have worked as a Social Worker for children in foster care and also with people with mental disabilities. I have two wonderful sons, Rhys who is 9 and Cal, who is almost 5. In my free time I like to read, spend time with my family and volunteer. I have some great ideas for increasing our membership and making everyone feel welcome. I want to add a few more sub clubs, more volunteer opportunities and increase the money available to give away in scholarships and community grants at the end of the year. I hope you will consider voting for me for President. I know next year will be a great one!
